It seems to me Singaporeans are working very very damn hard...for money, that is... when economy is good, everyone wants a piece of the pie. "We should have pay rise since everyone else are getting more." "We deserve better for working shit hours." blah blah blah... and when economy goes down, everyone doesn't want a pay cut...and since i started this semester and especially during my job search days, tho not very long, till now, i have always heard people talking about how good a salary people are getting...to the extent that it is getting on my nerves...!$#@$@#$...
where oh where is Mr-Loving-my-job-irregardless-of-pay...
Does having a higher salary equates to a happier life? if you think having a higher salary will give you a happier life, then when you get that higher salary, you will continue to want an even higher salary so that you can be happier and the cycle goes on...so when can one be really happy?
On the other hand, if you do not expect a higher salary in the first place, no expectations no nothing... and eventually when you do get it, i believe you will be able to use this "bonus" money to do stuff that make you happy... im no saint here, and i admit, i do get a prick in my heart when i know there are friends out there making more than me. but well, at the very least i know my own salary is enough for me, for spending and saving, and frankly, i don't really ask for more...maybe cause i come from a not-wealthy family that i feel all these are adequate for me.
And then there are people who pity me for having to work on weekends, public holidays, or even improper lunch time and lousy canteen food...well, i don't really pity myself for that. sometimes, its abit sad when people just think negative about your working condition/environment without a thought for others, whatever don't work for them doesn't mean it doesn't work for someone else. so what if my job requires me sometimes to go without lunch or pack lunch back to the centre to continue working? so what if i have to work on saturdays? thats my choice and i ain't complaining...urgh...im in a fussy wussy mood right now...LOL...
And there are those people who always exhibit this hideous negative force field that seeks to affect others along with it...if you don't like your job, don't go around telling people how bad it is!!! bad or good ain't for you to decide, but for that person to see and decide on their own...this is very very very bad when your mentor or senior is someone like that. I'm lucky i have a strong resistance to such influence...haha...can you imagine going to work and the first thing your senior ask you is, "why do you want to join psa ah? whyyyy~~~~?" two hours later, she ask again, "i really wonder why you want to join psa??" and before you knock off, "I still don't understand why you want to join psa? why ahhh~~~~??" and its obvious from the tone and manner its more of her complaining, "why do you wan to join ah? this is not as good as you think, you know...shift hours sux big time...its so tiring and i want to quit~~~~~!!!" ...i just shrug it off...no wonder my boss wants me to attach to my shift duty manager instead...
sometimes, people really have to take other people's words with a pinch of salt...
Does salary really matters that much? And why is people never satisfied with their jobs?
I dont understand.
