JB and 28th May 2007

I'm not taking voyeur pics. Thats my grandma and mum back there~ =D

Brunch at Kim Gary~!

Guess where i went today? JB! hurhur...with my mum and grandma...my mum suddenly had the urge to visit malaysia, since i'm so free now, might as well accompany her cross border and my grandma also comes along, her first trip in 20++ years. I realise i walked EXTREMELY FAST...i know i walk very fast but walking with my grandma makes me feel i walk damn fast. haha... i take 4-5 steps and i was already way ahead of her and had to slow down alot to wait for her - the steps of the busy society in today's world. i guess i should to slow down my steps and enjoy every moment more. haha.. and it certainly didn't help that my grandma didn't like anyone to hold on to her...

"To laugh much; to win respect of intelligent persons and the affections of children; to earn the approbation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm, and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded." - Raph Waldo Emerson

Sharon and I at Novena square's WangJiao cafe.

I think the quote below is very nice so i shall share it with everyone. =)

"When we come into the world, we are crying and those around us are smiling. Our goal should be to lead our lives in such a way that when we leave, we are smiling and those around us are crying."
- old Jewish proverb

Family Sunday...

Going out with my new pair of shoes from HK! =)

Interestingly, i went out with my mum to Orchard to walk walk...in the end, i bought 3 pairs of new pants (one is freaking 130+, heart pain long story) and my mum bought one...cos my sis commented on the pair she wore being old and dirty...so she decided to buy a new one and change into it straightaway. LOL. then we went for lunch and guess who i met. Hyeli~~~ poor hyeli has to have lunch on her own and her very own bf chose to stay at home to slack...pooooooor Hyeli~~~ =( hahaha...

Afterwards, we proceed back home and then 2 hours later, my mum drove me and my dad to TTSH to visit my cousin's grandmother... I was on the centennial ward...apparently most of them on the level are 90+ old...i think for those of you who needs to clarify your priorities, being in a hospital may not be a bad thing...cos i really wonder when i am old, how many of my grandchildren and relatives are going to be there for me... or am i just going to lie there on my bed alone facing the nurses and docs everyday... i think its pretty sad when you realise at the end of your life that you are all alone, making little or no effort in the past to build your relationship. well anyways, my cousin's grandmother is 90 and its been years since she has been to the doctor, so i guess she is rather healthy and hope she is alright... =)

My organiser!
i wrote the lines myself cause i think those sold on the shelves kind doesnt really suit me. =D

I'm a GRADUATE! =D

Sharon and I at Bishan CoffeeBean. =)

Hey people, I am a Graduate as of 7pm, 25th May 2007! =)

haha...to tell the truth, I was still feeling a bit nervous waiting to check my results 10 mins before 7pm, as thoughts that I will NOT grad float in my mind. Although my rational mind tells me that I will not remain a student, i guess that part of me decided to go on a short vacation and left me alone in my battle with the evil thoughts. LOL. now i can finally go ahead and work with ease and plan all my other stuff on hand with a piece of mind that I will never go back to NUS. hurhur.

Recently

Urghhh...dun really have a lot of time to sit down and blog properly these few days...finally getting some time now to blog cause im in the library now! LOL! Everytime I'm back at home, my sis or bro will be using the computer...that's why i'm seldom online too.

End of my second last week as a non-working, non-studying adult! Have been meeting up with my friends and running around Singapore, from Selegie to AMK to Bugis to Katong to NUS to Tampines...I've been to Bishan on Tuesday! AMK changed more although J8 has more shops than before...hurhur...

My results are going to be out later at 7pm! Moment of truth! Where I will go depends on the results I will get later...let's hope I only get one F and one U...hurhur...wish me luck wish me luck~~~ for the rest of you, good luck too! =D
okay okay...will be back later to announce the GOOD/BAD news from the NUS website...

Nice quote

If you want to live, live with a smile,
Live with love, don't cry
Don't shed your tears.
There are storms, there are disasters;
In life there are ups and downs.
But don't shed your tears.

Smile - pain is part of life,
But finally you get joy.
If you want to live, live with new hopes,
Live with new aspirations.
Live with love.
Live with a smile.

Child's point of view...hurhur...

yesterday i was on the way to the library...instead of going to Compasspoint library which is nearer, i decided to go to the library at AMK instead. Apart from meeting sabby, i decided that it will be a good opportunity for me to take bus 165/74 along the route that i used to travel during my secondary school days from Hougang to Bishan. OMG...going along that road brought back so many memories...it seems that everywhere, anywhere on the road there's a memory attached to it...like i have walked there before, shopped there before, lived there before, schooled there before, played there before and so many so many things...

i can see that some shops have changed...but the majority of the old shops before i moved home are still there...the clinic i used to go to whenever i want a MC, the coffee shops, 7-11... =D

I remember before the 7-11 was set up at that spot, it used to be a provision shop and i would always go down that shop to buy stuff, from pens and pencils to snacks...and then i was thinking, "wah lau, last time legs short short, cant even see over the counter...so you would run around the columns (i think there were 3/4 columns) to look for stuff...it TOTALLY felt like a supermarket~~~" do you have that kinda experience??? that a small shop like that, to us now it seems like a small SHOP... but when we are young and small-sized, its like a freaking supermarket lah!! haha...so funny...

well...anyway its great to re-visit my old house area and AMK is also still the same, only with an addition of a new Hub. =D
Next location to visit: Bishan Junction 8 (second fav hangout during sec sch.)
Last visited: ermmm...2/3 years back???

To be like ... or not to be like... NEVER to be like them...

Had some problems lately...not really a nice situation for one to be in...well...it really makes me wonder what's the role of parents...

To let or not to let...
To allow or not to allow...
To give free reign or not to give...
To scold or not to scold...
To be strict or not to be strict...

I will be a good dad. I will be. How?
Maybe that's a good dad in your point of view but a bad one from another's point of view.
I won't guarantee i will be a good dad in the future. but i definitely won't be one like yours (not referring to the reader =D ).

Got this phrase from this book i'm currently reading...
"There is never a good-for-nothing. At the very least, you can be a good BAD example."
and yar! at least i know this one bad example that i strive not to be...at least im one step closer to good than to being a bad dad. next time maybe i should write a book "Good Dad, Bad Dad." like Robert Kiyosaki after i have discover the ways of becoming a successful Dad. and I am really glad for the family i'm born into. Not wealthy, never had what i wanted when i was little, but at least i were not manipulated around like a rag doll. at least im given the freedom to do what i feel like doing. at least my parents respect my space. that's what my child gonna get.

Hongkong Part III

At the request of gluttony Siok, here are some of the food pics we took in HK. hur. Whoever going to HK must try the roast goose, its something like roast duck, just that its crispier. =) and 师母 brought us to this hotel for supper...wah...its super nice...too bad we didn't take those pics... Generally, they serve in big portions...i think i gained weight over the 6 days there. LOL.

Roast goose!

Famous 庙街 shop. Wanton mee at HKD 10 only!

Look at the portion of rice...the plate on the top right is all rice underneath the gravy.

Starbucks. They have this chocolate shake thats definitely not found in Singapore. It's super chocolatey chocolate...yum yum!!!

Hongkong Part II

Walking around...

When there's one...

there's three more... =D

LOL and just when I threw away 3 old pairs of un-wearable shoes a few weeks ago, i got myself 4 new pairs...tally up--> *drum rolls* 18 pairs of shoes to date!* my mum gave a cant-do-anything hearty laugh when my sister told her what i bought. LOL.

my 师母. Friendly (abit naggy. hurhur. ) and nice lady. seems like she is a pretty big shot around the area...

More desserts from 许留山。

迪斯尼 =)

Hey hey look at me!!! *waves waves*

Disney parade!!!

Night time Disney~~

Disney! Hmm...it was a good experience for me, someone who have never been to Disneyland...but not as good as i expected..according to Sharon, its very much smaller compared to the one in U.S... It's really small and you definitely can finish walking around Disney within a day. I was kinda expecting vikings and big-scale rollercoaster and the likes...but there weren't any major rides with those hair-raising plunges...and i thought its more catered to the younger ones and the older generation rather than to those looking for heart-stopping thrills. so sad. =(

Well, that almost concludes my whole trip! =) and i manage to get a lot of stuff that i would need for my work...shoes, shirts, ties and a Satchi office bag @ SGD 60 (real one hor!!! haha...selling at half price and its the cheapest i can get in the shop. hurhur.) it's good to take a breather outside..ahhhhhhh....Shiok! but at the expense of my pocket.=P

Hongkong Part I

Jiahao, My sis, Me and Sharon --> for HK!

Sharon & my room. actually we switch to King size bed room. only slightly bigger.

Back in Singapore this morning at 12.20am. Unloaded my luggage, packed abit, and decided to update my blog...on the vacation of course. =) As you can see, that's my room in HK. its small compare to any 3stars Hotel room you get... But personally, i think it serves our needs very well..well enough...its clean, with a TV and a DVD player (where do you get a DVD in hotel?!), a toilet in every room (six rooms in total, and the toilet is small but clean. hurhur.), cheap (300 HKD a room per day, and we still got a discount as the lady is my 师母) and did i mention extremely good location. It's right smacked in the middle of the bustling city. Behind our place is Temple street where there is the night market going on. We are on Nathan Road (溺敦道). Walking down to the left leads us to 花园街 and women's street (cant type NU REN) where you have those "pasar malam" style market and to the right is 尖沙咀 where those more branded and expensive stuff are... so we did not really take any bus or MTR...just walk except for those that we really need to cross the sea/river like 铜楼湾 or Disneyland...

My sis acting cute. Shopping!!!

Dessert at 许留山。Mangoes Galore~~
Over at 星光大道

We walked alot over these few days...wah...normally my ankle only hurts after a ball game, but i think my ankle couldn't take it after the 2nd day...LOL... we did not go to "the peak" even though we planned for it. First it was hazy, you won't be able to see anything up there and the n the day before, we just saw on the news that people were trapped on the cable cars. But the breeze was good over there...even in the busy streets in the city, the wind is blowing and it wasn't that hot only until the last 2 days.

I'm going to HONGKONG! for 6 days till 15th May... Don't miss me~~ hahaha...hopefully i will be able to update abit over there which i seriously doubt so...LOL. till then, dear frenz!

Suuuper tiring weekend...but SHIOK! =)

Breakfast at Wang Jiao Restaurant! its fantastic! Especially their toast!

Night over at Jo's place. Nice and cozy.

Waiting for the girls to finish shopping. =)

Woot! Tiring tiring week it has been...tiring but shiok...went JB on saturday with Winson, Britt, Darren, Zichao, Adeline and Joanna. i practically spurge on food over the weekend in JB. we had Kenny Roger's for Lunch, some Jap restaurant for Dinner, prata for Supper and some HK cafe called Wang Jiao for dinner...i think i spend almost 60 bucks on food alone...sinful sinful...

We actually went to watch Wild Hogs over at the cinema (Cathay) at City Square in JB. Well i thought the movie was pretty nice and funny. But the censorship board is very strict and there are alot of scenes that are removed from the show...and its so damn obvious and unglam 'cause they practically stop halfway and jump to a totally new scene...so un-pro...SNORT...and worse still, the popcorn SUCKS big time...there are so many seeds and chunks of sugar that i ate half of it and decided to stop eating before my teeth come off...MEGA SNORT...i think this should be the last time i will ever go to the movies in malaysia...i might as well buy some DVDs over there...cheap and no censorship...ops! =P

Actually its kinda cool to own an apartment in JB...imagine going over there for the weekend and having a place to sleep over and chill out...and i guess the cost of buying a living space in malaysia will be way cheaper than singapore and everything else is so much cheaper there. but of course, there's the security issue to consider over there. Just saw on the news yesterday that a couple was robbed over in JB on the day we came back Singapore...

Blub, Sab and I today at Marina Square.

Went K-box-ing today with Sab and Blub...originally we are supposed to go bowling too...but in the end, Sab wants to buy her shoes so we went shopping instead...damn...LOL...but its okay...i guess my body is rather tired to bowl too...been sleeping for very short hours for the past week, need to pay back my sleeping debt these few days to get ready for my trip to Hongkong. Saw a very nice Nike shoe thats selling at 145bucks in Suntec...my shoes fetish is coming...damn it...and someone called me and asked if i wanna work from 20th May to 31st May to do some admin stuff and im gg to be paid 80 bucks aday...thats like 8.50bucks an hour...wah super tempting...should i? or should i not and just enjoy my free days before i start work on 4th June? ahhhhhhhhhhhh....headache...im thinking i should do it since i can use that to pay for my expenses in Hongkong and i will have nothing much to do anyway after i'm back from HK. =)

last week in hall *sobs*

My last week in hall! wow! the week was suddenly over just like that. Had my last breakfast in Sheares Hall (not that I have it alot...) this morning after playing bridge all night long in Qijun's room... wanted to go Sentosa but the weather is not any kind to allow us to play in the sun. so, in the end, we decided to go to sleep!

cookies KJ made for me! =)

We watched spiderman 3 at Great World City in the afternoon, 28 of us. Well, despite hearing some negative comments about the movie beforehand, i thought the movie was not bad. Story plot didn't drag too much given that it is a 2hours and 20minutes show and the characters develop rather well throughout the movie. Although i thought Venom COULD be more cool than that. All the moves and style shown in games and comics ain't really there...more like another spidey thats real bad, with a nice set of shark teeth. Ratings: 4 Stars! =)

Ben's and Jerry's!

Sharon and I! hiakz!

Our last days together in hall! We shall cherish this period in our hearts and looked back with fond memories. =) Someone asked me a few days ago..."so what's the most memorable thing that you remember in your NUS life?" i said, "Hall life." well...he asked, "so whats the most memorable one in Hall?" hmm...i told him, "To me, my 4 years in hall is really wonderful. i mean i went through different activities from IHG, to committees, to block comm, to being a lao jiao and to being a captain pussy...well i will not say any particular game in IHG as being more memorable than the rest. To me, it all adds up to the whole experience which i am very sure i have plenty to tell to my grandchildren next time." (p.s. i didnt say the exact words then. but it was along this line.) If you asked me if i would have been given the chance to choose living the way i lived for the past 4 years (putting studies on the last of my priorities) or instead, study hard to achieve good grades, without hesitation, i will say, "live the same." if there are any part of in my life i have no regrets doing, it will be this 4 years here. and for this, i want to attribute this wonderful journey to those who make it so great. To everyone who's ever lived in Sheares in my stay here. To my seniors. To my batch people. To my juniors. To the basketball team. To the handball team. To Sab, you made my life more colorful. And of course, to Sharon who always stand by me, through thick and thin or in between. To Sharon for your patience and understanding and accepting me as who I am and giving your boyfriend me the freedom to carry on my social life, be it girl or boy or in between. Thank you all. Without you people, i may leave Sheares and NUS with some regrets. =)

Compare compare...

Yesterday i met up with my buddy at VivoCity with our "WAGS" with us...he just went for an interview..we were on the topic on getting jobs naturally and he said he has a friend who got a job at McKinsey as a consultant and is getting a starting salary of 10,000/month. woot! good for that person. but to me, it doesn't make any different. I mean, in the past, i would almost certainly have compared my would-be salary with that person. but now, no way man! Maybe the price for that is working in a stressful environment that doesn't allow for mistakes or what it may be... but personally i think, like grades, salaries do not have to be compared.

To those who like to compare what you have with others, take heed into this saying --> "人比人,比死人。" It's saying comparing yourself with others only makes you poorer, in short. People will always compare with people that has more things than them and ask themselves why are they not getting what that person is getting. It's not about how much money you are getting or going to get that matters, but how much of a value you are getting from what you are earning. To me, the amount im going to earn is more than enough for me now. good enough for me to strike a balance between family, friends and myself. and for that, I am already thankful. =D
