Whats there in store for you in life?

Spent some quality "me-time" at borders today. got a couple of mags and hung out singularly at the CoffeeBean behind. Paid a short visit to Epicentre, Nike and then to Far East Shopping Centre's Qisahn.com store (Re: they are selling Wii for SGD 299. AHHHHHHHH.... new psp 3006 for 300, which is about 20 bucks cheaper than other places.) I was very VERY tempted to put my name down on the reserve list for Wii. But I "Xuan Ya Le Ma" and managed to hold my reins and stopped myself from doing that.

Next stop - Lot 1 shopping centre (cos im heading to CCK for my bball competition) and i ended up with TWO PS3 games in the bag...damn...must stop buying PS3 games le... but im happy~! I got my Little Big Planet and Prince of Persia.... heh... ^^

And then on to the game with Chong Ghee which we lost. Haiz. and then some wake-up calls made and now for the bigger goal: BAS Division 1 tournament next April. It's time to start training.

and then there's the bigger question of "what do you really wanna do?" haunting me ever since I am back from reservice. Crazy ideas really going by and people constantly and unconsciously feeding me with so many ideas... like opening a game shop (I mean, arent the gurus saying you have to DO WHAT YOU LIKE AND LIKE WHAT YOU DO? im pretty certain Gaming doesnt bore me out. Somemore, games are RECESSION-resistant. Who stops playing game when theres recession?), taking a long break, like 6months, from work (Which is hard, considering im not in a well-to-do family that can allow me to do that.), going for further studies (whats the trade-off?) , go to some exotic island and chill out (Maldives!), get some part time freelance work (but i dun have any Exclusive Technical skills allowing me to do that. At least not now... zzz...) and so much more...oh and if i dont try to do it right now, when am i gonna do it, right?

So my resolution BEFORE 2009 is to get my RESOLUTION all set FOR 2009!
Sounds good? =] Now Im getting somewhere...

Time to play! =)
Waiting for Prince of Persia!

threeWEEKSlong

Completed my 3weeks long Reservice!

In camp + 1 exercise. Somehow, i think i will miss this 3 weeks of reservice. Tiring but it was nonetheless fun, even with some f**ked up people around. Ended it with a 2 days and 2 nights long exercise protecting our installation at Bedok with the Gurkhas as the intrusion force on the last night of the exercise. We "killed" them all. heh. Lights out, torchlight on, weapon ready and fire away~! But they do live up to their name, scaling 3metres high fence with barbwire like climbing a ladder, effortlessly.

The 2 days of exercise was really tiring...only managed to get 2+ hours of quality sleep in between the exercise...no time to shower, eat and no decent place to get your rest. My uniform smelled really bad when we packed up man and not to mention that i totally knocked out on my bed after showering. Im glad its over.

And to end things on a high note, I got Gold and Marksman for my reservice once again. 600 bucks from the Govt. YAY! =)

Handball Wednesday

Met up with Sabby for lunch at AMK Hub on Wednesday. Yay! we went to hawker centre to have our lunch. LOL. really sick of those "indoor" food. needed some "outside, dirty and unhygenic" food to balance it all out. Of cos the hawker centre is rather clean given that it was just renovated...

Me and Sabby on the way to school. Bus 52 is really fast.=)

A new pair of shoes!

And then we decided to go back NUS to join the guys team for handball. But i was wearing slippers. So Sabby MADE me go to World of Sports to get a pair of shoes. A pair of Mizuno court shoes. =D ended up with a World of Sports membership with a bag and a bottle as well. 100 bucks for everything. Quite worth it la horrr? =) Anyway i like the sound coming off from the shoes when i run on the court. Everytime i brake and change direction, it sounds like tyres dragging the ground when drifting a car. Speeeeeeeeed and flight. i like. =)

old times

IBG Handball 05/06

I was travelling back to NUS for my handball alumni game yesterday and i took bus 97 from harfront centre. So came a big bunch of River Valley schoolkids...rowdy... oh well not that i really mind the rowdy part. Afterall, its the "prime" of their life. The stage of life where there are no one else in the world apart from your friends and they could go on talking and behaving like they are the only one in the world. Ahhh...the life of being rowdy in the bus and being given the privilege to be rowdy... try doing that now and others will think of you as idiots..
"idiots, gimme my hard-to-come-by after-work peaceful sleep, will ya? so old liao still so inconsiderate!"

IBG Bball 07/08

IHG Handball 05/06

IHG Handball 05/06 - Me and Bingo (when he is still half the size he is now.)

Anyway, being so right near next to them and looking at what they are doing and talking about really brings back memories. Those faces with the look of immaturity shining through their skin and eyes. The smell. The days when i put my wet PT shirt on my shoulders, stinky and took the bus. and while my some of my "lucky" friends get to hold the bus hangers on top to stabilise themself, i only get to hold the bus pole. LOL.
I wonder what if ten years down the road, will they be in my position and thinking the same?

Those were the days... and yesterday I was back in school to play handball. The feel of the wind in my face, sweat dripping, rush of adrenaline and putting the ball into/(outside) the net feels great. Even though I know my wrist and ankle hurts, it doesnt matter cos the pain goes away when my mind is on court. =) if it hurts after the match, that's another matter. LOL

Btw, i was browsing through the Sheares Archives for about 2hours from 2003-2008 and these pics are the result of my "hardwork" browsing through. Should have save the pics while browsing. damn...maybe next time...

IHG Basketball 05/06 - Against KR

IHG Basketball 06/07

IHG Basketball 06/07 - Against KR (again) with my teammate Adi

The days of flying through the air. =)
Gonna enjoy it while i still can!

"...Why so serious?" - Joker
=)

A bit out of the point.
but SURPRISE! PO!

Anyway, in order not to miss out on the little things everyday and to make the memories even more sweeter next time, live everyday to the fullest! =)

old bones.

Met PO for lunch and coffee at YaKun after my 2nd night shift yesterday. walked around alittle bit and i spotted a nice jacket by puma, 85bucks. hah. and the pair of shoes that i have been eyeing for some time since im back in singapore. maybe i can get it as a reward if i managed to maintain a Gold for my IPPT in my coming reservist. heh.

I think my old-ness is starting to show...ankles get stiff and cranky and hurts after soccer yesterday...i wonder if its my injuries from last time... and kena "zam" on the hand...my fourth finger is rendered limp as of now....

and i didnt take on my challenge last sat...due to my cranky ankle. maybe i will take it on this sunday instead. heh.

Injustice in the world.

AIG Not Sorry for Spending your $$ - Forbes.com
Doesn't it feels like stepping on your own toes when someone take your money and used it to go for manicures and massages while you keep paying and paying to keep his house intact? That's what AIG is doing right now. Spending lavishly while it is supposedly in a financial crisis? while im not an American taxpayer, it still stings to know that there are such idiots around and they are supposed to bring good to the company. wth. I guess a lot of taxpayers are going to get their rights back and make sure AIG PAYS. AIA is going to have a tough time now. The freaking stigma is going to haunt them. Guys, dun go AIA if u ever want to get insurance or such. pay them money to spend it on themselves while the company fails to pay you when ur term is up? pui.
that said, im not against people from AIA as i do have friends from AIA. just too bad their mother company happen to be managed by shitloads of dumbass people. so when the captain of the ship sucks at navigation, jump ship early before you sink into the ocean of sharks.
Hugh Hefner opens up about Holly Madison breakup - Yahoo.com
What can a 85-year old guy do in bed? He must need a lot of Viagra to get it going, im thinking. Or else, he must be having some really good formula to be sold on the market to "keep things going". Wheres the justice that he still gets the girl(s) and IS still looking for new ones? Im really wondering, if the girls are horny, who are they going to look for? surely they don't expect some 85 year old guy to satisfy them? hmm...maybe that's where the butler comes in... but what if the butler is someone the likes of the Alfred (The butler for batman), which may also be almost there with Hefner on the "limpness" scale?
oh well, life's is unfair. so deal with it.

Swimming

woooooooo.... i swam on tuesday and 3 hours ago...and the sun was bright and sunny! swweet! saw the same group of PRCs on both occasions, 1 guy 3 girls. why are they so free? they don't look like they are studying, given that they looked...about the same age as I am... and they can't swim. so why are they there? here to play with water? grow up. suntan? what's with the all-covered-up swimwear. oh well, i think its just a all-for-the-moment thing. guess i won't see them next week. =]
***
Back to Group C to take over the SdM since the original Group D SdM is back. Irony...

Irony is when the person you were under-studying from when you first came in to work are now working "under" you... Even though its for now until end of the month, its still shiok to be working from "behind" that girl and not alongside... i wonder how she feels... =) oh well...not that im proud or anything...but at least it goes to show that the bosses up there looks at ability and not "age" to push people up. and there still some ground to cover up between me and some of my other batchmates. GamBatte! Fighting~!

Life is SWEET...

WHEN the ones you love, love you back with much more...
WHEN you wake up each day with a purpose in mind and a task to accomplish...and realise at the end of the day that you did nothing that relates to that...
WHEN everything you do leaves things in a better shape than they were before...

WHEN you take things easy and also seriously at the same time...
WHEN people put their trust in you and you trust everybody back...no matter what other people says...
WHEN your friends are there for you, in times of good and bad...
WHEN your parents stick by your decision and gives you enough room to free-play...
WHEN you have a PS3 in your room that lets you play DVD, blue-ray, access internet and play games all at the same time. Add a HDTV to that. and maybe a surround sound system, sometime soon... =)
WHEN you receive a SMS from someone you havent seen for some time asking how you are...even better, when its a girl... =P
WHEN Paulene Ong gets to eat cedele everyday...

WHEN you drink a cup of red bull frostie on a hot day, followed by shopping and movies and you have no work the next day...and the day after...and the day after...
WHEN my boss sends an email saying, "Well done." when you screwed up most of the other times...
WHEN Sharon asks for a hug...through SMS..."Big HUG!" Press SEND.
WHEN I have time to work and yet, spare some time for my friends...even if it means meeting up late after work...
WHEN i sit around a table with my friends, just listening to the conversation, not making a noise and indulge...
WHEN we meet up for dinner and someone says, "lets go for mahjong.." and we go, "steady" even if theres work tomorrow... its even better if its at my house so i don't have to pay cab fare... =)
WHEN I ask my mum to give me a ride back home, and she comes all the way from home just to give me a ride...
WHEN I can wear a pair of shoes every day, and not see the same pair for the next 20 days...
WHEN you say, think and feel that it is sweet... =)

time

somehow i do not really have MUCH time since I am back from the United States.
Why?
I don't know.
Less energy too.
Maybe being thrown into the new position right back from my trip really tips the balance right now.
Trying to get the right balance.
And it has been a brain-cells killing day today at work for my first of many independent shifts of SDM.
Stoned.
Now.
Can't
Think
Clearly.

The rabbit and the turtle

Was it the proud tortoise who went around boasting about her extremely fast legs without realising that the rabbits around her was laughing behind her? Was it the ignorance of the tortoise or she is just faking it to make herself feel better? Or is it ingrained into her hard shell that she is inpenetrable to any attacks on all fronts? was it...? oh no it isn't...this is a story to be said another day, another time.
---
It's about the fable of the rabbit bragging about how he is the fastest runner and was challenged by the turtle to a race. Of course, you know it. The rabbit won in the end. no wait, that's the second race. The first one was won by the turtle cos the rabbit was over-confident.
---
Slow and steady wins the race.
---
---
I was thrown straight into the job of Shift Duty Manager to learn from my old irritating, impatient and temperamental SDM right on my first day back to work after 3weeks away from work. The slow reaction to matters and the need to think things through, remember all the nitty gritty details and constant nagging from the SDM certainly didnt make it easy. One more night shift tonight to learn the ropes from the current SDM as much as possible before i am fully ON MY OWN next week as the current SDM is going for his in camp training. I have to be steady but i can't be slow! Since my boss have the confidence in me by throwing me into the sea to swim on my own. I need to do GOOD. Climb, climb and climb higher.

The last burst to the end of 2008! Run and run all the way to the end!
---
Genie, give a helping hand will you!?

U.S Trip

My long-overdue post on my US trip. Supposed to post when i wake up early this Tuesday morning, but guess what? i overslept. from 0130hrs to 2130hrs. TWENTY freaking hours without waking up for breakfast, lunch, dinner, peeing, shitting or doing anything else other than sleeping!!! AHHHHHhhhh....i cant rem the last time i slept for so long... I thought i slept for only 2hours when i woke up and saw the dark skies. "How come its still so dark? hmmm..." i looked at my handphone and saw the time "21:27hrs 02/09 Tuesday" WHAT THE F**K? i was stoned for 20 secs. I just missed my dinner date with Sab and i have tens of missed calls and sms-es. mega SNORTZ. and my mother din even bother to wake me up! =(
Just got out of the Subway from JFK Airport. Our first picture together at New York! =) Right next to Central Park~!
Broadway- we watched Mama Mia and it was very cool and funny. Makes me wanna watch the movie by Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan~ "Mama Miaa~~~ here she goes again~~~"
At Disney store - and we went to M&M's, NBC, Empire State Building, Museum of Sex and so many more that New York Pass has to offer. It's walk and walk and walk and walk mainly for New York City. No cabs. Just legs and Subway. =)
Madison Square Garden =)
Statue of liberty - didnt bother to go up to the top since there's a way long queue and we are sitting of waiting in looooong queues. That's one sickening thing in New York, where you have to wait in long queues to go to the places of attraction. and the security. Yucks!
and on to Orlando, Florida! Disney! It's almost the same as that of the Hongkong's Disney, but bigger. Still managed to enjoy ourselves here nonetheless and then its Tropical Storm Fay all the way. Yay Fay...Yay... T_T
Us near our hotels, walking down the road to search for food. Next time --> Get a Car! I wanna go back to FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sharon and I at the beach back at her place - New Hampshire! The day was Bright and Sunny, the air was cool and the water was near freezing point! yes....its so freaking cold that thigh-deep was all i could go. my feet was numb after just minutes into the water. Oh well, the Americans just dived straight into the water like its the norm for them.

Me at Tilton, one of the shopping outlets in New Hampshire. Shopping is sinful. I learnt that in U.S. which explains the polos, tees, jackets, shoes, belts, etc that i bought over here. For the next few months, its eat-grass time for me. heh.
***
Back in Singapore as of 1430hrs 01/09/08 and there's a whole new bunch of things for me to look forward to until end of the year 2008 and it ain't far away.
(1) first of all, back at work on my first day i will go straight into my NEW jobscope/post as a Shift Duty Manager. 2 shifts of under-study before i am thrown into the sea by myself to live or die. yayyyyy....
(2) National Service awaits me on 12 November 2008. My country awaits me.
(3) A trip overseas with my friends. Long-awaited. but that means more $$$. looks like i have to choose a place cheap. or postpone to next yr. haha.
(4) Appraisal/X'mas/New Year/Sharon's Bday/etc etc.

All holidays come to an end...

"As I gazed into your eyes - something inside me forever changed...You laid there by my side and gave me a smile that tore down the walls surounding my Heart..
I found what I'd been looking for all along..

that magic feeling I could never have before..I felt you there.. beside me.. taking my hand in yours..When the tears faded away and I came to my senses - You gave me a promise I'd been dying to hear since the moment we met..

You Told me that we'll always be together...Time and space ceased to be.. Our threads of fate became one..All the pain, doubt and fear in the world would not keep us apart..Not anymore..
If I'd have died right then and there in your arms,it wouldn't matter.. It still would have been the happiest momentof my life.. Death is only death.. and you.. are so much more..

But then something happened.. The dream ended..
I was forced to openmy eyes only to realize.. that I had lost you once again..I had returned back to reality - along with the sad shards of my broken Heart.. The torment of nothingness inside me caused greif unlike any other..

And still.. I wouldn't trade that one moment of true happieness.. for anything.. even if it was just a dream..Though just a pleasent illusion - the time we shared together felt real enough to me.. And that's why I love the nightly darkness so..

For I can't wait to close my eyes.. fall asleep once more.. and find you there again.."
Angivel of Zanarcadia (Swedish, b.1985)

Found this nice lovely quote while surfing around and found it a VERY nice fit to end the nice and sweet 3 weeks holidays i had spent over here. Thanks my dear~! Thanks for everything...even though plans never did go the way we planned, but i had fun still and its the experience and journey we had together that's important, not the places we have or should have been. Love you and see you in 5months' time!

home sweet Sharon's home

We are back at Sharon's place in Hampton, New Hampshire. After a rejuvenating rest, here's some time devoted to blogging after our shopping trip. 4 more days before packing up and heading back for Singapore. =)
Sharon and Me at New York Central Park

We at Empire State Building 82nd floor...the view...um...not fantastic cos of the fogginess...

Us at Orlando Disney - most of the photos in Sharon's cam...

Us at Florida Airport. I like Florida Airport. In fact, I like Florida the Sunshine State. Everything is so "Disney"...and carefree and gives you the feeling of the place "where dreams come true". great for a place to retire...that's where i will retire... =]

Hannah Montana and Olympics

While i am currently here, I have Disney Channel's Hannah Montana and the Olympics to accompany me! Wheeeeeee! Although i do not REALLY like the way NBC holds its Olympics show (its very Nationalistic), its really a form of entertainment to see and get inspired by the likes of Michael Phelps (Swimming 8-gold medallist in a single Olympics), Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson (USA power Chio bu Gymnastics powerhouse where Grace Vs Power), Usain Bolt (100m and 200m WR breaker), Handball guys and girls, Basketball (USA-Argentina Dream match up in the Semis!) and there's the upset: Liu Xiang, Michael Johnson, Asafa Powell, Sanya Richards, Lolo Jones and so many more... The most entertaining will have to go to Swimming and Gymnastics with Michael Phelps going for Mark Spitz record and the Chinese seemingly given more than questionable favorable scores in Gymnastics.
Oh well...then again, it may the NBC team trying to belittle the Chinese and making the USA looks better..Just look at their standings: the offical Beijing olympics website shows that China is on top in terms of Gold whereas other websites show USA on top in terms of medals. So who's right and who's wrong? you decide.
Okie! its time to see if Hannah Montana, or the Suite life of Cody and Zack are showing on TV. Tata! =)

Achieved Record Volume of Throughput 4244 for last night shift! Just broke the record ever since we were down to 19cranes since April at 4227 for our previous previous night shift and broke the record once again last night. How sweet is that? Woot! Soul Caliber IV

Yoda?!

YODA!?

Soul Calibur IV is going to feature YODA for Xbox360 and Darth Vader for PS3 when it release on 29th July 2008. HOW COOL IS THAT? =) Why cant they feature BOTH of them on both systems or at least PS3? haha.
I just have to survive this week. Just this week. for 12 consecutive days since last Sat, I will be in office one time or another. Packing up more than 60hours of work at least for the whole week, I think we are violating the MOM labor rules here, people. oh well, the night is the darkest before dawn so I just have to get through this "darkest" hour before I see the light.

Sunday, July 27, 2008

choice.

Some people believe that you are what you are today because of the environment you are in, the people surrounding you and all other factors connected with anything but yourself. Some believe that you choose to be who/what you are no matter the environment or people. We are all faced with choices everyday, minor or major and a lot of times we make them subconciously without stopping to think why we did this or that. oh well...that is another story for another time.
Anyway, I just got my annual increment letter from my big boss and then the usual "how is it so far?" conversation and updates. I was told that im picking up quite fast and is doing well and it was certainly a "bright day" after coming out from the office. =) now comes december to do my appraisal and then april to see how much i get for my bonus. Not that the bonus is what i really care for (its a part of it. duh.) but its the grade im being given by my bosses that matters cos if im appreciated and given a good grade, it gives me more reason to stay on.

SRJCians reunite

Went for my annual Srjc alumni bball tournament straight after my night shift yesterday. Shag. But the sun's good. Loved it though my teacher would never let us take out our shirts even if we are not playing. hmph. played 3 games and won 3. could have played further but it was mid afternoon and the sun is really really scorching down and some of us have to go. so we did our usual routine, took the trophy and took a photo with it before we head for the showers. As if we have won AGAIN. hah.

"Maturity of mind is the capacity to endure uncertainty." -John Finney
You can have a thousand and one plans, but when uncertainty strikes, put down your pen and paper, stand up and start taking some real actions. and this is what i do. When one is in the comfort zone for too long, you forget about what you are really there for.

report report..

1 report. clear. 2 reports. clear. 3 reports. clear clear clear! fruitful day today spent clearing my reports and going out to watch "Red Cliff" with my sister and her boyfriend. well...the movie was a little bit slow at the middle with not as much as expected fighting going on but it was still a decent show. but i missed the witty lines in the "Three Kindgoms" drama made long ago...it would have been better if they can better show how really smart and good the two advisors, Zhuge Liang played by Takeshiro and Zhou Yu played by Tony Leung, are. The only thing captivating about them in this show, for now, is that they are the only good-looking guys around during 220 A.D. hah. The girls have limited choices available then. Girls, be glad you are born in this age. LOL. Hope the 2nd part of the show (yub, its a 2 parter movie) is much more "hotter" then.

ONE more month.

so fast. 14 days to payday, 20 days to end of the month and 31 more days to US. yesh! time to start planning my to-buy list, other people's need-me-to-buy list, bring out the dusty ol' luggage bag and start stuffing stuff into it.
Some update with regards to my work - its definitely more enjoyable in the new grouping! heh. at least im pair up with 2 jokers that is of almost the same age as i am. not that i dun like being in my old group, but at least now i get to go lunch/supper with an additional "kahki" compared to the past. but that's all going to change when i get back from US. change of groups, people being promoted and going up, newbies take over, and I become the SDM~ Muahaahahaha....

Clash of the titans.

Roger Federer - World no. 1 in ranking

Rafa Nadal - World's no. 2

The clash of the century. Roger Feder and Rafa Nadal in Wimbledon for the third sucessive time! Each having a stake more than the 750k prize money. for honour and glory... Here we go~!! Urgh...now i regret why im working night shift tonight when i should be doing day shift... damn...
Most will feel that Roger Federer has more to worry about, given his recent thrashing at the French Open Finals by the very same guy he's going to meet tonight. and if that happens, i guess its going to be the start of the downfall of the world no.1 and the rise of the next star in the making. =) interesting.

packed to the brim~

somehow lately my schedule and list of things to do seem to be packed to the max. =) not that i am complaining, but i have already been late for a couple of times and sorry to those on the "suffering" end. =)
on to something else... while i was looking through all the songs in my harddisk, i thought of one artiste that i wanted to get -Bob Marley. There was a period during NS that i was listening fervently to his songs. I had a disc burned with all his songs that i would listen to when i rode my bike. now that i couldn't find it...hmmm...needa go scout the stores for his CDs...

45more days to U.S! =)

Thai Airways called and informed me that my flight from BK to JFK has been suspended as they are not having the flight schedule anymore. So now im left hanging in the air, on waiting list for Nippon Airways from BK to Tokyo, Tokyo to JFK. Gonna go down next week to give them some pressure...

Day day night cycle starting tomorrow once again-> meaning a weekend of work and slogging. =)
While my colleagues were teasing me about how they are going to make FULL USE of their TWO days off while i am working, I am really fine with working as long as there aint much "dirty" work to be done. Still feeling stagnant around my job scope. but its good that im going to have some different kinda job scope to cover (hopefully) once im back from my US trip.

smile and the world sings with you~

=)

Less than 5 days since i bought the game... i have completed it. YES! i have completed Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Feels like i have finished watching a series-long movie. The deeply intriguing plot could easily become movie material though a 2-hours long movie would not do it justice... As this is the last of the series, ending it in a way that really catches your heart and put you at ease is not going to be easy, not when Snake practically grew up with those who stick by it years ago but Hideo Kojima managed to do that. A ending perfect for a hero.

Work-wise, i was informed by my colleague that they may start to put me as Shift Duty manager for some night shifts if there are turn-outs. =) that's good. I hope they do. At least i am NEARER to doing something different. yay!

Boston Celtics win 4-2! a Game truly deserving...

"The Celtics obliterated the Lakers in Game 6 on Tuesday to capture their 17th NBA Championship and first since 1986" -Nba.com

Truly the best team of the year, Celtics won the long-awaited NBA Championships 131 to Lakers 92 shattering L.A Lakers hopes of a comeback by the start of 4th quarter.

MVP of the playoffs series - Paul Pierce

Watching the players celebrate their win, i can really feel the passion gushing out...all the hardwork, tears, sweat, waiting and time put in for this one moment...will we ever experience that in our lifetime? i wonder... oh well maybe im just abit envious, that's all...

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett
