Commitment

The thing a person increasingly carries when he/she grows older and older. Some call it a burden. Some finds it binding. Some finds it easy to work with. As you move on in life, some people get committed to their work, and gradually they have less time for your friends and family, they are always going home late from work, they have less time for themselves and they lose themselves in their own work that they dun see anything more meaningful other than their work.

Or some people get committed to their other partner and they spend so much time with their other half that they dun have time left for their friends and family. Gradually, friends stop calling you out for gathering, you lose time with your friends and slowly it becomes just you, your family and work.

So sometimes, i have commitment issues. Not a serious one though. =) Personally, I strongly feel that i need a work-life balance. I don't want to spend so much time at work that I don't have time for others. But given what my bosses are doing now, I think its not going to be easy juggling all that. And you have your friends AND your other half to juggle with. Who gets how much time? So for some lucky few, your close friends and your other half are really close and you tend to hang out together. That's really sweet. But for some, its like 3 different groups, both of you, the guy's friends and the girl's friends. So what now? And then when you are married, how do you justify time out with your friends to your family? How much is enough? Do you go home straight because your wife may not recognise you anymore after so "long" of absence or maybe your child may find a stranger coming home?

And so gradually in the end, it really boils down to how committed you are to your work, friends and family, how well you balance important parts of your life...
